Kareena Zerefos is an emerging Australian artist and creative, working in Sydney across a range of fields including painting, illustration, art direction and design.

She graduated with a Master of Art (Painting) from The University of New South Wales Art & Design in 2017, and has been a studio artist at the Northern Beaches Creative Space.

Through her recent body of work, Kareena continues to explore the notions of the Icon and the Archetype, and addresses the vulnerabilities and insecurities of womanhood, motherhood and creativity. The banksia became a significant motif to Kareena in her transition into motherhood; a personal symbol of letting go, of the ego death that comes with being a vessel of life, and of regeneration.

Kareena is also an advocate for slow living and ethical, sustainable fashion. She launched Quiet Sydney as a counterpoint to the culture of fast, disposable fashion and to move away from the glorification of busy. The project is dedicated to the luxury and forgotten rituals of relaxation, with a focus on soft, ethereal loungewear.
