Morphology and The Banksia

Through my recent work I have been exploring the notions of the Feminine, as Icon and Archetype, to address my vulnerabilities and insecurities around womanhood and creativity, as I transitioned into motherhood. Working in watercolour and graphite on paper, I have used the motif of a banksia as a personal symbol of Woman and Mother; of letting go, of the ego death that comes with being a vessel of life, and of regeneration and promise.
